Operation Bison Drawsko

January 14, 2017

Gepubliceerd op 12 jan. 2017

*Poland welcomes thousands of US troops in NATO show of force

*Poland to increase the size of army by 50 per cent to ‘guarantee the integrity’

(Published 8:06PM GMT 26 Nov 2015)

(excerpt)

Under the plan the Polish army would grow from its current strength of 100,000 to 150,000 as the country continues to expand the capabilities of its armed forces. Poland has pledged to hit the unofficial Nato defence spending target of two per cent of GDP and has launched an intensive modernisation programme.

Speaking about the army, Michal Jach, head of the Polish parliament’s defence committee, said an increase in size was part of a “profound reform to achieve a level of operational capacity that would guarantee the integrity of the Polish borders”.

The move reflects growing Polish security concerns. Poland has viewed with alarm the conflict in neighbouring Ukraine and the actions of what it considers as a revanchist Russia.

The beginning of the Caucasian (Russian-Caucasian) War is dated in different ways, mainly within the first quarter of the 19th century, though according to our consideration the warfare broke out in the 80s of the 18th century, when uncoordinated resistance to the tsarism exceeded the bounds of separate regions (the Kuban Region, Kabarda, Chechnya, Daghestan) and turned into an all-North Caucasian movement advancing the precise religious-political slogans.
So, in spring of 1785 a Moslem preacher, Sheikh Mansour, or Ushurma, appeared in Chechnya, who, striving for unification of the highlanders to fight against the tsarist colonialists, called upon them for “hazavat”, i.e., “sacred war” against the “unfaithful” enemy. Thus through Islam taken as an ideological basis, politically separated Caucasians of different tribes partially consolidated in the struggle against the colonial power.
In the Northern Caucasus (in Daghestan) Islam began to spread yet in times of the Arab Caliphate, though for the majority of the native peoples it was established as the official religion considerably later.
Thus the Vainakhs inhabiting in the plain and foothill zones of the
Caucasus apparently came into contact with this teaching not earlier than in the 15th – 16th centuries; as to the inhabitants of the mountainous part of Chechnya and Ingushetia, the influence of Mohammedanism on the highlanders was rather weak even in the 17th – 18th centuries. As is generally known, in the 18th to the early 19th century the Ingush elders swore not to the Koran but to their pagan gods despite the fact that Islam had already existed among a certain part of the Ingushes.

“France Is At War”: Hollande Unleashes 2nd Day Of ISIS Strikes, Mobilizes 115000

(excerpts)

However, a media activist in Raqqa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that French air strikes had targeted abandoned ISIL bases in the suburbs of the city where there are no civilians or ISIL fighters.

“It has been two insane nights. Abandoned ISIL posts were targeted at the entrance of the city, along with ISIL checkpoints and several other points. Electricity and water have been cut off as supply lines were hit too.

“We can confirm that there were no civilians killed or injured in the latest French air strikes.

The Syrian activist in Raqqa said that in the past few days Russian air strikes had caused the most destruction.

“Last week, Russian air strikes destroyed one of the main bridges in the city in addition to the national hospital. Most hospitals in the city have been destroyed in Raqqa,” he said.

“Russian air strikes have resulted in so much destruction. If these countries wanted to bomb the heartland of ISIL, they could have done so. But they still have not targeted the group’s most important bases.

“This is what we do not understand. The targets bombed by French warplanes were mostly abandoned by ISIL fighters.

“Raqqa is devastated. Raqqa has endured the unbearable and we live in fear under ISIL’s dictatorship.

“A lot of people fled the the city. In fact, most refugees heading to Europe are from Raqqa

A couple of things stand out here. First, note that according to the source cited above, the French (using US “intelligence”) are hitting targets where there are no fighters. The Russians, on the other hand, are hitting anything and everything which could hint at what many have alluded to all along – namely that the US is either i) intentionally avoiding ISIS, ii) scared of collateral damage, or iii) some combination of both and that’s now finding its way into French strikes via the provision of intelligence from Washington to Paris. Second, the Russians are the ones doing the real damage to ISIS although there is of course the allegation that they are targeting hospitals because these days, everyone has to accuse everyone else of bombing hospitals.

Finally, note that now, the French are doing exactly what they and other Western powers accused Russia of doing last month at Aleppo: exacerbating the migrant crisis by wreaking havoc on populated areas.

But we suppose they had no choice…

The Trans Pacific Partnership – A Corporate Fascist Coup

November 7, 2015

There is a bold global corporate takeover happening right before our eyes. The Trans Pacific Partnership has been discussed in secret for nearly 3 years and has been disguised as a trade deal when in reality it amounts to a fascist corporate coup where the megacorporations are gaining a tighter grip over individual governments all over the world.

*TPP: Why it’s too early to pop the champagne

(excerpt)

The freshly inked Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) – the biggest trade pact in two decades encompassing 40 percent of the world economy – may be hailed as transformational, but it will take many years before the economic benefits are actually felt, say analysts.

After five years of talks, a dozen countries across the Pacific Basin – Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam – on Monday clinched a landmark free-trade agreement that will reportedly reduce or eliminate tariffs on almost 18,000 categories of goods.

It is the largest trade deal the U.S. has negotiated since North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Uruguay Round were signed over twenty years ago.

“For a start, there are several hurdles to overcome before it is implemented,” says Andrew Kenningham, senior global economist at Capital Economics.

First off, the deal must be ratified by each country’s legislature – a sticky process that could take several months.

In the U.S., which is leading the initiative, many of President Barack Obama’s fellow democrat legislators, as well as labor groups, fear the TPP will cost manufacturing jobs and weaken environmental laws, while some Republicans oppose provisions to block tobacco companies from suing governments over anti-smoking measures.

“Democrats are opposed, as are leading Republican presidential candidates, including Donald Trump. With presidential elections due next year, the TPP may well get blocked in Congress,” said Kenningham.

*China and Europe may team up to snub TPP

(excerpts)

The world’s largest trade deal in recent decades may wind up creating high school-esque cliques on the international stage.

As the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) celebrates after sealing an agreement five years in the making, analysts are wondering whether the key losers from the deal, China and Europe, could join forces in retaliation.

“The question, thus, is what should China and Europe do in front of a huge economic block like TPP?,” remarked Alicia Garcia Herrero, chief Asia-Pacific economist at Natixis, in a report this week.

“China and Europe may finally look at each other and find some commonalities that they were unaware of before.”

Europe isn’t likely to hop on board either seeing as it’s already negotiating with Washington on another major trade pact, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), and because many of the TPP negotiation benchmarks reached by the U.S. won’t be acceptable to European leaders, Herrero added.

At the end of September, China announced it will become the first non-EU nation to contribute to the European Commission’s 315 billion euro Investment Plan. Meanwhile, the E.U. said it would examine the possibility for China to become a member in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a developmental investment bank.
