*Western Man In Crisis: Technology, Terror, The Journey of The Soul

“It now remains to be said that, although this happy night brings darkness to the spirit, it does so only to give it light in everything; and that, although it humbles it and makes it miserable, it does so only to exalt it and to raise it up; and, although it impoverishes it and empties it of all natural affection and attachment, it does so only that it may enable it to stretch forward, divinely, and thus to have fruition and experience of all things, both above and below, yet to preserve its unrestricted liberty of spirit in them all.” – Saint John of the Cross.

Exhausted in the Vatican

The Final Battles of Pope Benedict XVI

The revelations about the secret Vatican documents — dubbed “Vatileaks” by none other than papal spokesman Padre Federico Lombardi — first emerged more than four months ago. They suggest a Vatican mired in corruption and character-assassination campaigns, a plot that seems hardly limited to a butler’s alleged act of theft.

The central figure is Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, whom the pope instructed in July 2009 to clean up at the Vatican administration. The overzealous lawyer imposed cutbacks in various areas, including construction contracts, real estate and management of the Vatican Gardens. In a letter to Bertone, he wrote that he had turned a Vatican budget deficit of €7.8 million ($9.8 million) into a surplus of €34.5 million within a year by putting an end to old boys’ networks that “always awarded contracts to the same companies” — at double the prices customarily paid outside the Vatican. Viganò made himself unpopular with his fight against waste and abuse of office.

He was maneuvered out of his position after only 27 months and, since October, he has been the Vatican’s ambassador to the United States in Washington, far away from the Vatican. He has perceived his transfer as a punishment. In a letter of protest to the pope, he painted a blunt picture of the Curia: “The realm is fragmented into many small feudal states, with everyone fighting against everyone else.” The conditions, he wrote, are “disastrous” and, even worse, are “well-known” to the entire Curia.

Off the Grid

June 17, 2012

English language, Dutch Subtitles.

Documentary by Alexander Oey.
Alexander Oey traveled through the United States and filmed communities who have taken matters into their own hands.
Of the 50 American States, there are 46 almost bankrupt. More than 13 million Americans are unemployed. More than 49 million people live below the poverty line.
The national debt ceiling has recently increased to 14 trillion.
Since the last financial crisis the trust in the Federal Government is lower than ever.

In Great Barrington, Massachusetts residents have its own currency, the Birch share, to be less relying on the dollar.
In Colorado Springs, the local population has the right to vote against tax increases and relies entirely on the private sector.
In Austin, Texas radio host Alex Jones makes his own electricity and water supply.

In Sandpoint, Idaho is the American dream under the inspired leadership of a Buddhist mayor exchanged for sustainable solutions. All these initiatives are a way to get a better life in a time of great uncertainty.

People search their own Utopia outside the financial system and the Government. Are these communities on the correct path?
Have they found active alternatives , while Governments worldwide are heading on to bankruptcy?

Invasion Syria Imminent

Russian Troops Land In Syria – Russia To Protect Interests In Tartus

Now the Russian Black Sea fleet’s Iman tanker has arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus on the Mediterranean Sea with an anti-terror squad from the Russian Marines aboard according to the Interfax news agency. The Assad government has insisted it is fighting a terrorist insurgency. The Russian news reports did not elaborate on the Russian troops’ mission in Syria or if they are expected to leave the port.

The presence of Russian troops in Syria could be a “pretty obvious” show of support to the regime, according to Russian security expert Mark Galeotti.

“No one thinks of the Russians as anything but Assad’s last friends,” said Galeotti, professor of global affairs at New York University

*U.S. military completes initial planning for Syria

The U.S. military has completed its own planning for how American troops would conduct a variety of operations against Syria, or to assist neighboring countries in the event action was ordered, officials tell CNN.

In recent weeks, the Pentagon has finalized its assessment of what types of units would be needed, how many troops, and even the cost of certain potential operations, officials tell CNN.

*Russia Sending Missile Systems to Shield Syria

MOSCOW — Russia’s chief arms exporter said Friday that his company was shipping advanced defensive missile systems to Syria that could be used to shoot down airplanes or sink ships if the United States or other nations try to intervene to halt the country’s spiral of violence.

“I would like to say these mechanisms are really a good means of defense, a reliable defense against attacks from the air or sea,” Anatoly P. Isaykin, the general director of the company, Rosoboronexport, said Friday in an interview. “This is not a threat, but whoever is planning an attack should think about this.”
