May Day means remergence of OWS

May Day marks the first nationwide strike in US history, and now the Occupy Wall street movement has ressurected the worker’s holiday, calling it “a day without the 99%”. RT web producer Andrew Blake is in New York where it all started and thousands are gathered to rally today. He joins RT’s Abby Martin for more on the day’s event there.

Protests have been held around the world on International Workers’ Day. Rallies in Asia demanded wage increases, and marches in Europe opposed austerity measures. Thousands of workers protested in the Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan. In Moscow, about 100,000 people – including the president, Dmitry Medvedev, and president-elect, Vladimir Putin – joined the main May Day march through the city centre
