The Day of Atonement

October 7, 2011

Sourceflix productions – Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement

“Kippur is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holidays. Its central themes are atonement and repentance. Jews traditionally observe this holy day with a 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services.

The whole country stops, with no transport, broadcasts and businesses closed. It is a fascinating view of millions of people fasting at their homes and praying in sinagogues.
Yom Kippuer is also a memorial to thousands fallen Israeli soldiers of 1973 October War (Kippur War), when Israel was attacked by surprise in the holiest jewish day by arab armies of Syria and Egypt, seeking its destruction”
